Hi Zoltan,

I think you're getting editors mixed up with Word Processors/Document
Preparation Systems here. An editor, saves an ASCII text file, so even
if it had the bells and whistles you describe it wouldn't do you much good.

However, there are several ways to get a these bells and whistles (plus more)
for Linux (or most Unices).
    1) Use LaTeX document preparation system, you define formating in
an ascii file written by a text editor (such as Vi, Emacs, Joe, xedit,
etc) and format it using the LaTeX program (my personal favorite
aproach, the learning curve is fairly steep, but you soon produce
documents that look better and are easier to produce than using
        M$-Word)
    2) Use a WYSIWYG front end to LaTeX called lyX, I haven't seen it
but apparently it behaves very much like a high end word processor
(May be a good way to make the learning curve of LaTeX a little less
        steep)
    3) Look at the available office suites which usually include reasonable
word processors, there is a shareware/free beta to StarOffice
floating around (this however needs Motif libs, which have to be
purchased), ApplixWare is available (for a price) from RedHat, EZ
which I believe is free and probably a couple of others floating
        around.

Hope this helps,

Rohan
