The master IDE device of the first IDE bus should be /dev/hda. The
slave on this bus should be /dev/hdb. The master on a second IDE bus
should be /dev/hdc! Linux seems to have some trouble with slaved IDE
CD-ROM devices. Just try /dev/hdc for luck.

Is there IDE support and IDE CD-ROM support in your kernel besides the
AHA-2940 SCSI support? YOu need both to get things working. I
wouldn't recommend these Soundcard devices as you seem to have SCSI
onboard which should perform much better.
