The program you used for graphical installation is called 'glint' and it
runs under X. In fact if you login as root and 'startx' the default
program menu (press your left mouse button) contains a reference to
glint in either the main menu itself or in Applications (I can't
remember exactly but it is there).

I'm pretty sure I remember reading some of the other LDP documents.
During installation there is an option (if my memory serves me
correctly) for installing the ldp package which contains html and ps
versions of the documents.

I may however be getting confused because I also bought the Linux Bible
-- LDP in printed form which had a CD-ROM full of the documents also.
