I have recently installed the linux slakware on my 486 pc. I have a problem with the tar compression program. It seems to execute okay if I just type tar at the prompt as below. jess:/home/steve# tar tar: you must specify exactly one of the r, c, t, x, or d options For more information, type ``tar --help''. Although when I try to decompress a file as below I get an error. jess:/home/steve# tar -x filename.tar tar: can't open /dev/nst0 : No such device This device file "nst0" does exist in the /dev directory. It has read and write permission and I even tried giving it execute permission but this didn't help. If anyone knows what the problem is would you please be able to email me the answer. Thanks in advance.
