I am a newbie who has just discovered the delights of Linux (Sorry but I
normally use Risc-OS, and I am Win-phobic). I have managed to install Linux
from the 4 disc Red Hat CD collection. It went in very nicely and we (my
son and I) could run X-windows and various games (I am not confident to
attempt major set ups just yet). However we could not get Doom to run.
Here is copy of what happens
root@pioneer /root]# /usr/games/rundoom
Can your computer support sound? [n] n
Sound Support: 1
X windows support: 0
sdoom: can't load library '/usr/lib/libvga.so.1'
Exec format error
sdoom: can't find library 'libvga.so.1'
Now I have checked /usr/lib/libvga.so.1 and it does exist, and it is pointer
to another file that also exists, /usr/lib/libvga.so.1.2.9. I have used ln
to re-link the file and checked PATH and used printenv to check the
environment system and realise that now I need help.
So, help, someone!
