Hi, I am setting up my system to down-line-load (DLL) mail & news using fetchpop for mail and newsdump for news. DLL works well. The problem I am having is uploading mail & news. I make a PPP link four times a day, and have this evoked by a cron job. While this is no big deal I cannot see how to : 1> Trigger sendmail (if this is the best medium to use) to upload mail at the time I have a active PPP link. 2> How do I get sendmail to know the sender address is the address on the ISP machine and not the ID at the local machine. ie: to know that sender is gmkelly@zip.com.au and not root@local_machine. 3> Triggering News send?? I don't know which program is best or do I simply utilise the sendmail to post to a newsgroup (How?) rather than to email. 4> Any other suggestions or guidance? All responses appreciated. Cheers, Grahame PS; For those interested in setting up a automated Mail & News service on there Linux boxes: FetchPop 1.9 is a great program and easy to use. Author's http://www.cis.ohio-state.edu/~oh ftp://seung-hong.ganet.net/pub/linux/fetchpop Newsdump 1.0 works well and I have found it to be quite effective. Author's email address is gsinai@gol.com Webcrawler found the site to ftp, sorry can't remember where now.
