Right in front of my I have a Western Digital 730, a WD 340, and a Conner 170, and between the three of them you can DEFINATELY here them quite well. The WD730 is the loudest, but I think it's slightly faulty with regards to noise. But in my personal workstation I have a WD1.6GB and a WD540 and those are loud enough too. WD do not set any noise records, imho -- not on the newer drives at least. hamish Hamish Moffatt | Rising Software, Melbourne, Australia Phone: +61 19 429 086 | Email: rising@rising.com.au hamish@rising.com.au | Phone: +61 3 9894 4788 moffatt@yallara.cs.rmit.edu.au | Fax: +61 3 9894 3362 Cloud Nine BBS: +61 3 9886 5195 | Web: http://www.rising.com.au --- GoldED/P32 2.42.G1219+
