I have a 2yr old Osborne with that has a phoenix bios that won't read a hd >500mb. If I install a 1.2gb drive, can I use the bottom 500mb for dos and the remainder for Linux? Or is Linux dependent on the bios for accessing the drive's high cylinders? Slightly off-topic, if this can't be done, has anyone successfully upgraded the bios of their Osborne (with an MPower 3 motherboard)? If so, I'm interested in your experiences - dito for those who have used the software hack provided by some hd manufacturers.
