I posted an article a few weeks ago about upgrading to gcc2.7.2, thanks to all who responded, it now works quite nicely - I have compiled several packages, everything seems to work... except for one thing. I downloaded the pre - 2.0.6 kernel, and tried to compile it - it went fine for a while, then it told me that there was an error - it couldn't find as86. What is as86???? I installed the binutils, the new libc and libg++, gcc itself, and a patched version of make, so I assumed anything I would need would be included somewhere in these. I did a find -name as86 -print and it couldn't find the thing anywhere on the system! I'd really like to compile this kernel... so does anyone know what this as86 is or where it is? thanks! -- >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> <Daniel Franklin>><<drf03@uow.edu.au>><<2nd Year Electrical Engineer > <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
