strange errors when starting X

Hi all,

Can anyone help me with the following errors?

/usr/X11R6/lib/libXt.so.6 is not an ELF file
/usr/X11R6/lib/libX11.so.6 is not an ELF file
Unable to load shared library libc.so.5

I get these errors after updating to X312 and typing startx.

is it possible that I have not installed X312 properly.

I got the X312 binaries from the Elf directory on x.physics.su.oz.au
and I am wondering if I may have downloaded the wrong binaries.

My ultimate goal is to upgrade from X311 to X312E so my trident 9440 gives
me svga with 256 colours, etc.

For some reason I have the idea that I have to upgrade to X312 before I can
go to X312E.

Can anyone confirm my doubts?
