Small report on AUUG / SLUG meeting

The AUUG / SLUG / SAGE meeting was held at the Occidental Hotel
in town on Thur 16 May.

My apologies for not giving earlier notice to the speakers (Del and
Anthony) nor to members, but I was only just reminded of this 'comittment'
at the last minute.

Basically this went very well. There was quite a mixed level of previous
exposure to Linux, from very enthusiastic users to vaguely heard of
before.

Anthony held the floor for some time fielding questions until Del turned
up (at the right time). Several of the questions were about comparisons
with FreeBSD.

Del 'started from scratch' but spoke well about Linux in general, again
turning to questions to get a better feel for the audience's expectations.

The meeting only lasted about an hour (many jokes about comparisons
with SLUG meetings where we do go on a bit), but the response was very
favourable.

I really had the sense that people were excited by the possibilities
of Linux. There was a great deal of interest in the dates and times
of SLUG.
