Minicom Problem (2)

After reinstalling Redhat 3.0.3 I have found out the reason Minicom exits with
"data termcap database" as in the redhat csh.cshrc file sets the minicom
command line
to use a terminal emulation called mc which mine doesn't have. I'm running
term=linux on my virutal consoles, but minicom isn't displaying the
extended characters..

Also what are the correct file privs for minicom and the /var/lock
directory and ownerships, as no-one but root can run minicom and create a
lockfile in /var/lock.

Regards..
