This might be a really stupid question, but I'm a linux newbie. I have installed the slackware distrubution from the linux archive CDs, and to my dismay have been unable to get X to run due to my having an EGA monitor(keep flames to a minumum). I have tried to reconfigure using /usr/X11/bin/X86fconfig but even with the horiz and vert scan freq set to those of my card and monitor I have no luck. my finally though was to fully define a new monitor in the monitor definition file with a screen res of 640x350. Unfortunately I have been unable to decrypt the syntax of doing this and would appreciate help. Do I need a different distrubution of X11? Any other helpful suggestions would be welcome.
