I made some tentative enquiries about the new ISDN to be adopted by
Telstra and they said by the end of the year. The big significance
of this newer standard is that it does not require the use of a BMUX
at a Telstra exchange so therefore should be much(?) cheaper to provide.

The other thing is that it will use a similar(?) standard to the
European ETSI one which is quite popular over there.. again meaning,
that we can use (maybe) cards already available and drivers needing
little or no mods for Aus.

What's the big deal ? Well, take $500 ISDN card, add Stallion/Digiboard
+ modems and throw in a v2 stable kernel and we have a great little
backyarders ISP setup. The cheapest Cisco 1003 router is about $2.5k.

It's ok folks, I'll just chat amongst myself.
