I have an assignment where I need to be able to get screen dumps from a Linux installation (from the creation of the boot/root disks to rebooting after the end of the installation). I know that I can use TEE and that saves that output to a file in the ramdisk created from the floppy boot at the beginning. I want to use a nice menu format install program so that beginners will be able to use my assignment and basically have a hand to hold to guide them through. I was thinking about using the color144 Slackware installation which uses curses screen codes(I think). If I capture this information how do I use it with all of the screen codes to take to a DOS environment (which I am more capable in at this stage, but am open to suggestions as to how to print these out on a HP DJ540 under Linux) to manipulate and build my assignment around. eg can the screen capture be filtered of the codes?? I appreciate any help that I can get with this as I don't relish the thought of manually editing the screen capture file which will be quite large by the end. Since the ramdisk is rather volatile, is it possible to mount a DOS partition to save the screen captures to? Does Red Hat provide a better installation interface than the Slackware color144 interface for beginners? Thanks for any help! Craig
