Can anyone help me with this problem?

I am trying to install Linux onto a Pentium 100 with 16 mb ram.

I am using a SB16 bit sound card and CD ROM to do the job (or trying to).

I have created the boot disks etc etc....everything is done right up to
the actual installation of the source files.

When I use the SETUP menu within linux, select destinations, swap space
config and everything works fine UNTIL I select to install from CD and
then I cannot get it to find the right directory with the source files!

Originally I was trying to install an older distribution slackware from
infomagic which exhibited this problem. Then I purchased a recent (Nov
95) slackware also form infomagicw BUT it still does it!

I think that is does this because the CDROM is set up in a dos file
system and hence I should select custom and choose the directory
"DISTRIBU/SLACKWAR" (i.e. DOS pattern). I have tried this and millions of
other "likely" possibilities. I have checked the directory names by
viewing the CD on another computer and that is correct naming for it.

I know the CD ROM is working ok coz the light flashes when you call it to
check the directory and yet it gives the message "source directory not
found. you'll have to configure the media" or something like that.

I no longer have windows on my drive and DOS alone cannot access my HDD
as far as I know (see I am only OK at using UNIX not with using DOS/WINDOWS).

I am really stuck here. I know that there is an extremely simple solution
to my problem and I thank people in advance for any help that they can
give me.

Thanks,
Ed
