Indeed it is, if the volume is light and doesn't warrant a 24/7
connection.

Prone to errors? Complicated?

No, not by a long stretch. Taylor-uucp makes it very simple, documentaion
included in 'info' format, installed right alongside uucp.

knews is very nice, especially running under fvwm or mwm. I've certainly
got no complaints.

Haven't seen either. Written in tk?

I didn't much take to xrn either - everything seemed backwards. Support
for threading is non-existant (knews does this very well!). xvnews just
would not run, and I had too much difficulty locating the problem so
eventually I gave it up. It might be nice, but I haven't seen it to
find out. :)

In any case, I stopped looking when I ran knews the first time. It is
an impressive piece of work - not overly large, simple layout, optional
multi-window, full colour support, very configurable resources, and
threading done /very/ well. All other standard newsreader versions are
there as well (kill files, sorting, 'hot' articles (anti-kill as nn
calls it)) and so forth.
