Could someone please point me to where I can _easily_ find out what
features or changes are relevant to what versions of Linux.

Also, are there accepted stable versions of Linux? I notice that
Slackware, on their version 3.0 CD set supply both 1.2.13 and 1.3.18
kernels and I am wondering why this is so.

I am also confused as to when masquerading and ACK bit checking where
introduced in relation to packet filtering.

TIA.
