If you have a PCI PnP system, remember to make the appropriate IRQ vectors
available to PCI PnP and not ISA in the BIOS (IRQ5,7,11 - I think) and also
set the option for `boot to PnP OS'.

For Linux SB16 support, recompile the kernel:

Make config - answer y to `Soundcard support' and take it from there: you
will later be asked to fill in base address, IRQ etc. Unless
you have some bizzare setup, the defaults will be ok.

  Make dep

Make zImage (Obviously copy the output (.../arch/i386/boot/zImage) to
/vmlinuz and remember to reinstall lilo)

Oh, and don't forget to add liberal doses of prayer

With regard to the CD-ROM, look at WHICH.ONE on sunsite in the bootdsks
and rootdsk directory) or alternatively, just use idenet (if installing via
nfs) and color.gz and recompile the kernel to support your CD-ROM. If your
CD-ROM is not supported, I suppose you can kludge and pretend to install via
CD-ROM in setup and see if it auto-detected as something - I'm sure someone
will identify a much cleaner way of doing things. I suppose its mandatory to
say `rtfm' CD-ROM.HOWTO etc...

Can anybody explain what sbpcd does? When my system boots, SB16 and Matsushita
CD-ROM are detected but sbpcd.c then starts auto-probing at all addresses
except where the SB lives (0x220). The probing takes about 10 sec per address
and ends up with `no drive found'. I've patched sbpcd.h and set SBPRO 1 (to
indicate that a `real' SB is present) and set the SB address in lilo's
parameter passing thingimmybobs. sbpcd now pauses for about 10 sec and says
`drive not found'. The system then boots as normal and both CD-ROM and SB are
functional. There's something I'm missing in all this and I don't know what it
is...
