Well, I guess so.... : Could this be causing my problems ? Indirectly.... : Does this have something to do with using "BIG IDE" drives ? Yes. : How do I rectify the situation ? Add a couple of lines to the lilo.conf file which passes the correct geometry to the kernel. You can (i think!) ignore fdisk, since it always asks the BIOS for the geometry, rather than the linux kernel - hence it tends to get confused with big drives. You should add the lines append = "hd=head, cyl, sec" linear to the top of your lilo.conf file, where you must enter the correct head, cylinders and sectors for your drive. i This process worked for my 1.6G and 540M drives. : Darren.
