(1.3.49 is the latest one). | |But is it unstable because betas are inherently unstable, or have you actually |had it crash? I mean, is is to be considered unstable just because it's 1.3.x, |or has somebody actually had problems? I think it's simply a matter of the "warranty". If a 1.3 kernel gives problems well you were warned, but if a 1.2 kernel crashes, that's taken seriously. I've been running 1.3.35 for a long time and I've never had it crash, although fsck did bomb out once when booting up with some disk irregularities. So I booted up a 1.2 kernel, let fsck sort it out and then rebooted 1.3. There are a couple of cases where only a 1.3 will do and I think running Dynamic Disk Overlay 6.0.3 is one of them. My friend has DDO and 1.3.17 and has never complained about the kernel crashing, although he wishes there was a (free) TGUI 9440 SVGA X server that works.
