Well, after using an ISA Trident 8900c for years, I finally made the upgrade to a VLB (albeit an el-cheapo CL). However, under svgalib, it doesn't want to work properly. I searched through the README's for svgalib, and I found the following comment, which seems similar to the problem I'm having: in CHANGES "Try to avoid Cirrus hardware lock-up when switching certain modes." Now, the symptoms :)... - All hicolour/truecolour modes work (320x200x32K, 320x200x16M, 640x480x32K, etc.). - The unchained X modes work fine (320x240x256, 320x400x256, etc.). - None of the standard 256 colour vga/svga modes work (320x200x256, 640x480x256, etc.) - and finally, when resetting to text mode from graphics mode, it dies. - When it dies, the screen goes totally black. The system is still going, because I can reboot, echo ^G myself, etc. So, the question obviously is: has anybody else had similar problems (from the CHANGES file comment, it would seem so) and, if so, how do I go about fixing it? :) Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Alec
