The two books I looked at are
"Special edition. Using Linux" QUE, 861pages. with CDROM

and
"Running Linux" O'reilly and Associates. Matt Walsh and Lar Kaufman.
575 pages. without CDROM.

I read somewhere that the Running Linux is the most recommended.
I think it is the better of the two.

Incidently, I now feel a Linux book with a CDROM is a bit of a waste, as
it rapidly gets outdated.

CDROMs I liked. (these are my views)

"InfoMagic Developer's Resource." (the last one I had was March, 95.)
(the newsgroup indicates there is a new one.)

"Toolkit for Linux". Walnut Creek. I thought the InfoMagic at the same
date was better.

I remember a mate said he used "Plug and Play" seemed to better for
novices.

Did not like "Linux Internet Archives" - Yggdrasil.
It seemed to expect you to have multiple cd drives, so I found it a bit
all over the place, with some links missing.

For whats it's worth.
Ed Fletcher.
