TCP/IP would be preferable, as this : will also allow the Linux machine to become a local router for Internet : destined TCP/IP traffic, as well as running the LAN itself. : The networking hardware will most likely be Ethernet or other suitable : networking cards. Well, any half-decent network card will come with a TCP/IP packet driver for DOS. If you're wanting to use TCP/IP under Windows 3.1, the most popular package is Trumpet Winsock, which you should be able to find on just about any bbs, or archie (I think??) There is also a Microsoft TCP/IP 32 - which is a 32-bit TCP/IP implementation for Windows for Workgroups. If you're looking at using the Linux box as a fileserver, you could try setting up NFS on it, and using a shareware NFS client on your DOS machines called XFS - which you can find on archie. As for telnet and ftp - the NCSA suite is readily available and functional. Brett :) -- In the force if Yoda's so strong, construct a sentence with words in the proper order then why can't he?
