Hi I've mucked around from time to time trying to get Linux up on my PC, and had not had any success (my work PC, during breaks... so this has not been full-time or anything), until I got the MiniLinux distribution from the Monash Linux archive. It works, the editor works, the MS-DOS filesystem works, but X-Windows seems to go really wacky (probably a not-understood video card) and I cannot get the start.ether script to work (I am connecting to the Internet from a direct-ethernet connection which is up and running and happy from MS-Dos and MS-Windows) My trouble is that I'm a Linux newbie and also new to Unix, despite many long years of MS-Dog and Microsloth Windows. Any assistance would be appreciated. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Philip Ryan, Defence Science and Technology Organization, Australia phil.ryan@dsto.defence.gov.au +61-(0)3-9626 8265
