Is my Hardware sufficient to get a reasonably speedy UNIX / X-Windows system > set-up ??? Ah... well being a basic newbie myself I can't compare, but I am very pleased with the speed of mine. >3. What is the best way to go ???? ie. which is the best/easiest/most recent > shareware Linux setup to get??? I install the Slackware version. I got it with QUE's Using Linux. I would reccomend it as the way to go. The book cost me $75 but the tips and tricks as well as having a second opinion were invaluable. It installed the Kernel ver 1.1.18 and I upgraded to 1.2.13 Yesterday without any drama. >4. How much Hard disk space is required??? Do I need to reformat or repartition > a hard disk ???(or can it be run with a minimal installation from CD-Rom??) I use a 250 Meg partition, and it's got 200 Meg on it, but I'm not sure how much I can delete yet, as there is heaps of zips + tars lying around. >5. Am I making any sense ??? Perfectly
