Some ideas ...
o execute the following command: fdisk -l
This command should display your partition information (I forget if
stdout or stderr)
o This command is what SETUP is using to determine any 'Linux native'
partitions ...
o Not all devices are able to be read in this fashion, I know /dev/sda
& hda are (I have a Tandy 4000 and Epson 660c with Linux)
When I hacked the ESDI Microchannel code from invaders.dcrl.nd.edu into
Linux 1.2.8 and install it as slackware, I discovered that 'fdisk -l' does
not work on esdi drives /dev/ed0
I hope this gives you some insight ... Good Luck
