FYI: Purdue's educational computing center has a package called
'entomb' which implements an 'safe' rm, along with file tombs. Since
I haven't actually used a CC computer at purdue in a while, I forget,
exactly, but I believe it hooks into the std. C library to do it's
dirty work, and thus protects those unfortunate overwrites as well...
Anyone who's interested in this project might want to try starting
with this. It's available from
ftp://ftp.cc.purdue.edu/pucc/entomb.tar.Z, if anyone wants to go for
it.
