<snip snip snip> >>>After using fdisk on /dev/hdb2 to make /dev/hdb21 (A linux >>>Native). And run SETUP it says that I have not specified a Linux >>>Native partition, but I did! >>You should not fdisk partitions (i.e., /dev/hdb2) but only entire disk >>devices (in this case, /dev/hdb). >I also have the same problem, I believe my partitions are set up properly, and >both my linux native, and swap partitions show up when I use fdisk /dev/hdb. >Any suggestions anyone? What slackware version? There was a problem with the Infomagic (at least) March 1995 CDs which I think was to do with extended partitions - fdisk did not recognise linux partitions which were not primary ones.. I bypassed by using an earlier color144 I had I assume it was fixed by the August release, but come to think of it I did not attempt to re-partition my disks..... BTW, someone above either knows less than or more than me: Partitions on disk x where x is a or b (or c or..) are: hdx1 hdx2 hdx3 hdx4 - primary partitions hdx5 hdx6 ..... secondary partitions - within an extended partition. Note start wit 5 whether or not have 4 primary partions.
