Yep, I've run LyX for a while, and going is good. It is reasonably fast (at 
least compared to idoc...) and does a good job as a GUI front end to LaTeX. 
What is particularly good is that it employs this LaTeX-like semantic markup,
rather than a layout-oriented one. It is not exactly SGML but anyway...

I've got one problem though; I wonder if it is common or is my native char set
(Finnish) and keymapping messing things up. The Backspace key has exactly the 
same effect as the Del key, that is, deleting the next character. This is 
a bit annoying.

Furthermore, I have not been able to set dvi500 as the default printing 
service, despite of fiddling with .lyxrc. Now LyX alway tries to use dvips.

Anyhow, it's a good piece of software. Go get it.
