My Linux distribution, slackware, has an incorrect
/{usr,var}/lib/zoneinfo/localtime .
Can someone please either:
a) send me a correct one!
b) tell me the rules for Daylight Saving, as well as (preferably) some
history of when it changed (just so that past timestamps display correctly),
and I'll write a correct localtime file and post it here; or
c) tell me where I can get the above information.
Just one other thing: my tzfile(5) man page says that the format
"begin[s] with bytes reserved for future use", but it doesn't say
how many bytes. In my file it's 24 bytes, but if anyone has any
reason to believe that someone else's machine might have a different
number (despite the fact that the numbers are carefully specified in
"standard" ---i.e. big-endian--- byte order when my Intel linux box is
little-endian), I'd be interested to hear.
