Yes, modprobe won't compile for me, now that i use ELF.  however modprobe
has been compiled under elf, as a copy is in Slackware 3.0 (which apparently
didn't install properly when i did it the first time).  so i'm installing
midprobe and the other module programs from slackware tonight.
