Hi,
Has anyone out there used proxy ARP under Linux? Care to give me
a few pointers on how to set it up?
My setup is like this:
+----+ +----+ +----+
| #1 | | #2 |-----------------------| #3 |
+----+ +----+ slip +----+
| |
+---------+
ethernet
When machine #3 dials up and connects via SLIP, I want machine #2 to
provide proxy ARP for machine #3 so that machine #1 can talk to machine
#3. Currently machine #2 can talk to both #1 and #3, however #3 can't talk
to #1 and #1 can't talk to #3. If I ping #1 from #3 the packets goes all
the way through to #1 but the return packet doesn't get back as #3 is
ARPing on the ethernet trying to find who it should send the reply to.
I have tried 'arp -s' to setup at static ARP table entry, but this didn't
work, as expected, since it's not really the same as proxy ARP anyway.
Thanks in advance (can't use TIA now as it's probably copyrighted ;-)
