Hi all

I have recently installed Linux 1.2.8 in my 386sx box, and I had it
working reasonably well. I could telnet to wherever, use IRC, whatever, no
problems. 

BUT...

A coupla days ago I compiled and installed a gopher client on my machine,
and now whenever I try to use DIP to do whatever, it throws me off. I can
call to zeta (My service provider), I get answered and told I am
connected, and the phone connection holds. All fine so far. But when I try
to use *any* client, it connects, then immediately drops the phone
connection and tells me that the network is unreachable. 

This also seems to have affected my Winsock setup as well (It's on a
different partition on the same hard disk, using LILO to start up),
although I don't see how it could be. I cannot telnet to anywhere using
Winsock at all. My telnet client just sits there and does nothing. 

Does anybody have any suggestions as to where I should begin to look to
solve this problem. I'd thought of the modem, but the settings all seem to
be the same under DOS, Windoze, or Linux.
