I have had no luck getting the boot disk to recognise
my scsii disk (quantum empire 2Gb) on a PCI-sc200 card
with the ncr53c810 chip.
Other hardware: P90
Diamond Viper (SE) PCI
Prime 2C MKIII Super IDE controler (simply controlling
the floppy - has jumper to disable the IDE)
Motherboard has "award bios"
Rins fine under DOS.
I have tried:
putting the board in various (of my 3) PCI slots.
setting the BIOS to map INTA on those slots to int 14 (both edge and level)
giving the parameters (ramdisk ncr53c810=0x6700,14) to LILO
tried some other IRQ (than 14) - although in less combinations with the above 3
and at all times the *#$%$##@$%% message (after recognising the ncr53c810
chip and printing the adress 0xf8007000, io 0x6700, irq 0) is
that IRQ0 is not free.
Am I doing something obviously wrong or should I return the SCSI card
and get another make?
Should I demand another motherboard?
Should I reread the howto for the 1000 time?
(thanks to one person how replied to a previous post that suggested
I try interrupt 14 setting int the bios - but, as you can see, it doesn't
seem to work for me).
Any suggestion is appreciated.
regards
d.s.
