The card that seems to be universally recommended is the Buslogic 445(? not sure of the number, there's a vlb version, anyway) which will work with your favourite free unix as either an aha1542 emulation, or in a native mode. The third higher-end scsi card that at least Linux could use was the Ultrastor series.. good cards, but the company has now dissolved into bankruptcy, so perhaps not a wise purchase unless you find one secondhand for a good price. -- Dan.
