I am getting closer to the time that I am going to buy a new laptop.

My aim is to run a dual boot Ubuntu/ XP Windows laptop.

I am looking at Toshiba laptops which are almost identical spec wise but
the AMD is quite a bit cheaper.

What I am looking for is most bang for my buck speed wise.

Should I just be looking GHZ speed?

Do I need 64 bit software to take advantage of the 64 bit processor? I
have heard of problems with 64 bit versions of Ubuntu.

Is Centrino a cut down verison of the standard Intel processor?

Thanks for your help.
