Here is the VGA resolution and colour dept chart , this may help you. 256 colours is 8 bits , the vga= can accept parameters in either hexadecimal or decimal , 0f00 = 3840 in decimal , 0f07 = 3847. From memory , colour charts and possibly vga charts cycle through the colour/resolution table in multiples of set values and 0f00/0f07 are one of the resolutions that is acceptable to the system because it has a value somewhere when cycling through the 800x600 colour /resolution table. http://tinyurl.com/linuxquestions Colors bits 640x480 800600 1024768 1152864 12801024 16001200 256 8 vga=769 vga=771 vga=773 vga=353 vga=775 vga=796 32000 ? vga=784 vga=787 vga=790 vga= ? vga=793 vga= ? 65000 16 vga=785 vga=788 vga=791 vga=355 vga=794 vga=798 16.7M 24 vga=786 vga=789 vga=792 vga=795 vga=799 -- --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Naked DSL ?
