Sandgroper's HOWTO is good, but it seems to assume that everything is there.
If /boot/grub exists and contains the right files, I can manage. But /boot
does not contain a grub/ folder, only the kenel files. Following info
grub, I copied all the files across from /usr/lib, but no dice.

I was running it on some extra space on my Mandriva system. I have
currently taken it off and put Mandriva 2009 rc2 there.

I had trouble with Suse 9 getting it to recognise my recent model CD drive,
and with Mandriva before 2008.1 to recognize the NIC on my motherboard, so
certainly new hardware can be a problem.
