As usual, i've got no idea how this stuff works in Ubuntu. But if it's
anything like Fedora, there may be the ability to download updates from
various mirrors around the world.

The default configuration of Fedora's package manager system finds
mirrors automatically and, if there's a problem with one, it will switch
to another one. If you run it from the command line, you get a message
about this, but if you run one of the gui front ends, you don't.

Maybe Ubuntu works the same way and one of the mirrors is offline.

Does the update work anyway, even though you get this message? If it
does, i'd just ignore it. Hopefully the Ubuntu crew will fix it soon and
it will go away.

If the update doesn't work, then it's probably something else.
