Someone gave me a nice shell script with which, on another Suse Linux system, I am able to make mp3 files out of a CD, simply by activating the script. It calls cdparanoia and lame. I am now a long way from home, working on a laptop with Suse Linux on it, and I find that it doesn't have lame. OK, just go into software installation, look for lame... except that there are a number of choices with "lame" in them. What do I choose? -- Dieter Britz

What do I choose? It would help if you said what those choices were! If 'toolame' is one of them, try that. -- http://NovemberEchoRomeoDelta.com

I knew I should do that, but I was not able to cut-paste the list, I always ended by selecting one particular one, and would have had to write them all down and type them in here. Thus it cannot be distributed with the full SUSE distro since that is distributed in the USA and they would not want to be sued by the mp3 patent holders for patent violation. However lame is available in many places on the web. >>> >>> I am now a long way from home, working on a laptop with >>> Suse Linux on it, and I find that it doesn't have lame. >>> >>> OK, just go into software installation, look for lame... >>> except that there are a number of choices with "lame" in >>> them.
