I have had an ASUS eeepc the linux version with the smaller screen.

I have since sold it.

I see there is an eeepc out with a larger screen, will linux run on it ?

There are three screen sizes, and multiple versions of each screen size.
Perhaps a quick search on google would have been useful, because Asus is
selling EeePCs with linux in all three of their screen sizes, and
there's also Ubuntu-eee that's been remade to work with these netbooks.

They do make the larger one with Linux, but I haven't seen one in Oz. I
haven't looked for information for a couple of months now, but when I
was asking around to see if anyone had replaced the winxp version with
linux I couldn't get a straight answer. Lots of maybes and ifs, and go
here and there (neither here nor there really knew either). Maybe
someone has done it since.

I have EEEBUNTU Standard on my EEEPC 900 with an 8 inch (if I understand
correctly) screen. works fine - if I don't mess around with the wrong
parameters. Wouldn't go back to XP or Windows in general for anything.
I miss MS Works in that I could do a lot of things like my kids report
cards follow-up.

Why can't you do that with OpenOffice?

Believe me if you could do in Works you can more than do it in Openoffice

www.Openoffice.org

If you run Ubuntu it should already be there under Applications>Office

If not System>Administration>Synaptic Package Manager

Search openoffice
