ACS NSW AISIG - Artificial Intelligence - Monthly Meeting

Date: Wednesday 29th May 2002.

Time: 6:00pm till 7:30pm & dinner afterwards.

Topic: Negotiation Mechanisms

Multiagent systems (distributed artificial intelligence) began
by focussing primarily on cooperative interaction between agents.
There has been a consistent increase in interest in competitive
behaviour. In the late 90s, electronic commerce became fused with
rational agents in "agent-mediated electronic commerce". The
distributed nature of the Internet itself creates a need for
'objects' to be able to look after themselves economically and
to 'deal' with potential users of their services. This seminar
will look at some 'neat' negotiation mechanisms particularly
those that have come from economics.
