Problem: Windows won't run from either DOS or from OS/2 under
the DOS prompt (in either DOS-full-screen or DOS-window) or
from WIN-OS/2 icons etc. It hangs about 10 seconds after
typing WIN, or after clicking on the relevant icon on the OS/2
decktop.
Cause: Microsoft Speaker Driver.
How to rectify:
Uninstall the Microsoft Speaker Driver. (You'll need Windows
running to do that.)
You might be able to patch this by going into one of the INI files,
but I haven't tried that.
Other possible causes:
If you have wallpaper installed in Windows, you might try
uninstalling it. I haven't tried that, but in view of the
MS speaker driver problem, it's worth trying, as OS/2
probably expects a very standard Windows.
