I ended up using YAOS;  not a brilliant solution, but with file name
completion, who's complaining?  ;-)

Yeah .. but they goofed *big* time on this one, and on the constant NumLock
complaint that people have (how difficult is it to add "NUMLOCK=ON" support
to CONFIG.SYS?  Sheesh..).
