Two quick issues, surely a piece of cake for experienced OS/2 users. Let me preamble, a little. My company doesn't yet do a lot with OS/2, but the times, they are a changing. Even a superficial examination of OS/2 puts it ahead of Netware, NT and their ilk, let's be optomistic and suppose MR IBM keeps the OS/2 iron in the fire; recent efforts, eg. VisualAge, encourage me to look postively at using OS/2. I am nonetheless looking at NT (Informix already supports NT) and so far, it's easy going. Not so OS/2, so I'm trying to balance the books and gather more knowledge of OS/2 before I start getting critical. Also, don't suppose that I am purporting to be in a position of any authority within Informix, this is purely research to support immediate issues for clients - I'm not changing the world...today. 1. What's the user community in Australia like? eg. user groups, BBSs, consulting firms, installed base in terms of number of sites, type of use, size of user count, applications use and any other yard stick you might care to mention. I need to think of potential acceptance of our products, interoperability at OS/2 sites influencing, say, UNIX software decisions and effectively any scenario where OS/2 is a criterion for RDBMS, application tools and connectivity products. 2. To overcome a personal, technical hurdle, please advise on the following installation. I'm putting up OS/2 on an HP EISA machine. How do I get better than 604x480 resolution on the standard HP video card? The card is not apparently listed and none of my previous trial and error selections bore fruit. Also, what can be done to configure for IPX clients, NFS UNIX mounts, Windows for WorkGroups clients and printer/MODEM sharing between these platforms? I appreciate that some of this is pure RTFM stuff, nonetheless, I'm also trying to gauge issues other than my ability to absorb information. Plrease advise.
