Extra memory kills OS/2

I run OS/2 (FP15) in a partition on my P4 2.8GHz box with 512MB RAM.
Recently I upgraded the RAM to 1024MB, but it kills OS/2. The splash
screen appears, but then an error occurs and the system halts. I know
there is an issue with OS/2 and >64MB RAM, but this hasn't applied in
this case. Is there another issue with >512MB RAM? If I remove the
extra memory the system boots again. The memory cards are identical and
I've tested with a different stick of memory.
Unfortunately I need the additional memory more than I need to retain
OS/2 on my computer, so unless there is a solution I may have to leave
OS/2 behind.
Regards
David

Warp 4 with FP15 does work with more than 512MB, I have it here with
(acc to FileCommander) 670MB.

The essential files are OS2LDR and OS2KRNL. My ones date back Nov 4,
2004. Are your ones sufficiently up-to-date?

InProTrack says here of Syslevel.os2:

current CSD XRGM015
Version 4.00 (2.45)
Revision 14.097 (XRGM015)
