ANU Supercomputer Facility, ITS
Computational Chemist (fixed term)
ANU Officer (IT) Grade 7, 8 or 9
(Post No: Q29.080.410 Ref No: G982842)
An experienced computational chemist is required to work as part of a
team in a collaborative project with Fujitsu Japan. The project seeks
to establish, optimize and develop computational chemistry programs on
Fujitsu high-performance parallel supercomputers and apply them to a
research program in biomolecular simulation. The latter is currently
concerned with the theoretical study of enzyme reaction
mechanisms.
The project will make extensive use of the Fujitsu VPP300
vector-parallel and AP3000 scalar parallel supercomputers installed at
the ANU.
The position requires experience in computational chemistry software
development and documentation, a degree in a scientific or
mathematical discipline at post-graduate level, the ability to write
high quality reports and to work to deadlines. An understanding of
quantum chemistry, and a recent record of research in some area of
computational chemistry are also required. Experience with parallel
computing is highly desirable. The project is likely to require some
travel, interaction with Fujitsu personnel, and collaboration with
other scientists from industry and research institutes.
Appointment to the position will be made at a level commensurate with
qualifications, experience and the level of direction required and is
for a fixed term of 2 years. Salary levels are: ANUO Grade 7 $42239 -
$45647, Grade 8 $47278 - $52569, ANUO Grade 9 $ 54836 - $ 57355.

the selection criteria and quoting 3 referees should be sent to The
Secretary, ANU, Canberra, ACT 0200.
