                      University of New England

One PhD scholarship is available for a PhD program in the area of
compiler techniques for parallel computers. The scholarship will be
supported by a large ARC grant, and the aim of the project is to
develop new techniques for compiling programs for execution on
parallel computers, with a particular emphasis on designing a unified
framework to solve various code generation problems such as computation
code generation, communication code generation, local memory management
and message aggregation.

Applications are invited from individuals with an honours degree
in Computer Science or Engineering (first class or upper second class)
or a research masters degree. Knowledge of matrix computations and
programming language C or C++ is desirable. Demonstrated research
performance and documented publications are highly regarded.
Preference will be given to applicants with a demonstrated background
in Parallel Processing and Compiler Design.

The candidate will receive a scholarship of $18,500 p.a. for a period
of three years, subject to satisfactory progress. Contributions
towards relocation and thesis expenses according to APA conditions
will be available to the successful applicant. It may be possible
to supplement the scholarship by tutoring work. Also, extra funds may
be available for attending overseas conferences. Applicants must be
Australian residents or have a permanent residence status, and be
enrolling full-time. The successful candidate would be expected to
begin studies as soon as possible.
