ACS NSW AISIG - Artificial Intelligence - Monthly Meeting
Date: Wednesday 30th May 2001.
Time: 6:30pm till 8:00pm & dinner afterwards.
Topic: Conceptual Spaces - The Geometry of Thought: A Review
Peter Gardenfors maintains that AI needs to introduce another
layer between the connectionist (artificial neural networks,
etc) and the symbolic levels to make sense of intelligence.
This talk will outline his ideas on concept formation based
on geometric spaces and measures. The conceptual spaces
approach will be related to language development and machine
learning. Peter Gardenfors is a long standing acquaintance of
Professor Norman Foo's, who also recently reviewed this book
in AI Magazine (Spring 2001)
